I went out painting early this Monday morning. I was down near the lake where all the beautiful fields catch the light perfectly in the mornings. These sunflowers caught my eye, and I had to paint them into my composition–there were plenty of beautiful things to paint around there, but these just seemed cheerful to me.
<<I've been making some slow progress on my Jack & The Beanstalk Paintings lately! Two are at a finish, and two are in the block in stages for painting. It's a slow, long process, but I'm thrilled with the pieces so far! I really wanted to implements some new techniques in the two pieces, and after long hours of hard work, I feel like I succeeded in my goal! (More progress of Jack to come soon! Please leave comments below if you so wish for suggestions on what to do with these pieces when they're done! Children's book? More of the series? Prints?)
<<Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Really I think I just love holidays, because when one comes around, except halloween, I will always say it's my favorite. Festive thinking isn't it?
<<I'd love to say Easter is my favorite though, and it's not my favorite because of the delightful treats that haunt every store, marshmallow peeps, chocolate eggs, cadbury eggs, malt eggs (au revoir easter candy! You are loved and very missed.) That's not quite why it's my favorite, even though it's an incredibly good guess.
<<Easter is my favorite because I am reminded every single year to recenter my focus on my Savior Jesus Christ, and His perfect love for me and each and every one of us. I am reminded to have more hope and faith in Him. To have more determination to follow Him. I am reminded that He atoned for my sins, and that I can be cleaned from sin only because of His sweet sacrifice. I am reminded that with Christ as my center, all things are possible. That I can do hard things. That He is beside me at every moment. Most of all, I am reminded that HE LIVES! These following words from President Thomas S. Monson I know are true. I know that He Lives!

“No words in Christendom mean more to me than those spoken by the angel to the weeping Mary Magdalene and the other Mary when, on the first day of the week, they approached the tomb to care for the body of their Lord. Spoke the angel: ‘Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.’ ”
<<A couple summers ago, I convinced my good friends, Tyson and Amanda to wake up at a beautiful hour of the morning and let me use them as models in a painting. They were such champs, and it was so fun! Maybe you remember this post? Well, I've done about three paintings from the shoot and really love them all. Thinking about it today, however, I realized haven't posted a single one! So I'm here to share with you all today!!
<<The original painting is listed here, in my Etsy shop, if you're interested in owning this treasure. Prints of this piece are currently unlisted, but if you're interested, please send me a message.

<<It's always bitter-sweet selling my originals. It's so cliché to say that I put my heart and soul into a piece, but it couldn't be more true. After spending so much time with an idea and gaining so much inspiration, upon completion of the piece I feel a great connection to it. It is a visual display of the workings of my mind, my passions, hope, fears, work, and love all sitting upon one canvas. My signature in the corner, always my last mark, is my way of writing on the canvas, "Here it is, this is everything I have to offer this work. My thoughts are complete. This is the end to a work of inspiration, and the beginning to a new."
<<Watching the piece go is like sharing a part of myself with the client. So is that hard? Is that bitter? Yes and no, it is bitter-sweet. The warm thank you's from my current clients, previous client, and clients from years ago, and their sincere love for the painting makes the whole process worth every moment of it all. I couldn't be happier to share a little insight of me with them. I know the paintings must go, and if I did keep every one of them, I wouldn't be happy. I make art solely for the purpose of sharing how I feel with others. Sharing the small beautiful moments I see in each day. So there it is, and I'll say it again without the cliché, my heart and soul goes into my work.
<<I always say that like to keep my paintings to myself until I feel I've rendered them to a complete, but the truth is that when I'm working on a piece, I am too excited not to share! So, with that being said, here are my two recent projects in progress! (Prints will be available via my etsy shop, and originals for sale.) Enjoy!
